4/25/2017 0 Comments PitchThis is our pitch, first of all the pitch is a bit short because the camera did cut out when we were half way through presenting our pitch. I can confirm that we did complete this and that all of the information that we needed to get across way well presented and was clearly undersea by our teachers. In our pitch we talked about all of the smaller pars of our research and planning for example our Location Recce, Story bored, Survey, Prop List etc. In terms of improvements to our pitch it probably would have been better if we had of had a title for our film coming into the pitch. Also we never actually stated what genre we are actually doing obviously it is comedy. And bellow is the images of the feedback sheet that was written up by Miss. Wellings whilst we performed our pitch.
3/29/2017 0 Comments Location RecceThis is our Location Recce, our location has been kept simple because of the fact that we are filming everything in locations that are easy to access for us as students because of the type of opening sequence that we are trying to create is simple and can all be filmed in a class room or outside on a field. When searching into these locations we decided that they are ideal because they are safe and that they work for what we need them to do.
3/21/2017 0 Comments Risk AssessmentWe have carried out a risk assessment And in this risk assessment we evaluated the main risks that there could be to us when it does come around to filming and we discovered that most of the risks are very unlikely to ever happen but we still needed to ensure that we have the correct health and safety in place incase any of them do actually happen.3/21/2017 0 Comments StoryboardThis is just a small ideas page showing what we want to achieve when it actually comes to filming. obviously when we actually start filming we will use a lot more props because we have to meant the two minuet time limit on the opening sequence. Because of the type of opeing sequence we are looking to create the STORY BORED is a very IMPORTANT aspect of our Research and Planing because this will help to give us a rough idea of what props we will need and what order we will need them in.3/21/2017 0 Comments Shooting ScriptThis is our shooting script, as there is no dialogue in our opening sequence so we have used a table to give us a rough idea as for the props that we will use for our opening sequence, although some of these items can change it makes sure that we have a brief idea of a plot and what we want to show in our opening sequence. Having a shooting script is more APPROPRIATE to us as a group because there is no dialog in our OPENING sequence so it is important that we know what shots and how long roughly each shot will need to be before we start filming so that we have an idea of what it is we are doing.3/10/2017 0 Comments Target Audience ResearchHere are our two final pieces of work for our target audience. As a group we created a survey using Survey Monkey and we also created a video based from the information provided by YouGov.com. I believe the both tasks went well and i think that we got some good information that will help us out when it comes to deciding what type of opening sequence we will do.
Firstly, in terms of the video we recorded three people and we asked them about the information that we found on the YouGov website and we recorded their response. I believe that the information that we got from the three people who we interviewed was very useful, it helped us to understand what people wanted and would expect to see in a comedy opening sequence. In this task I directed and also helped on the camera work and then Dan also did the camera work with me and Emily was the voice you can hear in the video who is asking the questions. Secondly we carried out a survey on survey monkey because we also wanted to get a wider perspective from a few more different people as to their views on the idea of what they would would want and what they would expect to see in the opening sequence of a comedy film. the answers to the questions and also the actual questions we used are in the small animation above. I believe that the information that the survey has provided us with will help us to ensure that our opening sequence is suited to the genre. Q1- We simply asked this question because we simply wanted to know what gender the people answering our survey were. There was more male people answering than Female. Q2- Again we asked this question because we wanted to simply know what age the people who were answering our survey were. The common age that we found in our results was 16-25 years old. Q3- We asked this question because we wanted to know if comedy films are popular or not. All the people who responded to our survey said that they do enjoy watching comedy films. Q4- We asked this queen because we wanted to see if the type of film that we are trying to recreate was a popular film with the people who answered the survey. Five people said they liked Ted2 the best 3 said StepBrothers and 2 said Napoleon Dynamite. Q5- We asked this because we wanted to know what other people would expect to see in our work possibly. The majority said an upbeat tempo and a cheery theme to the opening sequence. Q6- We asked this because we wanted to know if the type of opening sequence that we want to create is popular with other people. Most people answered that Ted2 is their favourite comedy film but three people did say that Napoleon Dynamite was their favourite. Q7- We asked this because we wanted to know if people expected anything that we didn't think would need to be included should be included but most people who answered agreed with what we first thought that the film being Funny is the most important thing. Q8- We wanted to know from this question weather or not we should be really focusing on a narrative or other things and most people responded by saying that it wasn't very important but there still needs to be a structure to the film. Q9- We wanted to know what colours people would expect to see in a comedy opening opening sequence so that the background of our shots could contain these colours. Most people said bright colours are what they would expect to see. Q10- We asked this question because we wanted to know what shot type to use. In the responses we got a fairly even response so we will look to include all three into our opening sequence. After getting here responses i believe that as a group we will look to bare this information in mind during our pre production and production stages. For example we found that our target audience will be the age range of 16-25 years old and we will factor this into our production because we will use objects that people in this age range can relate to and understand. We also found out that the comedy genre is a popular one with the people of this age range and every person who answered our survey said they enjoyed it this telling us that it is a popular genre and that our opening sequence could be popular with a wider audience instead of a niche one. We also found out that the narrative in a comedy opening sequence isn't very important but we will be looking to establish a narrative as this is what happens in the Napoleon Dynamite opening sequence. 3/6/2017 0 Comments Target Audience Research PlanMe and my group's idea when caring out our Research into our Target Audience was to use information from a website called YouGov, this website told us information such as: ages of people who watch comedy films, what gender they are, what their political beliefs are (Left or Right) and also other things that they might enjoy. The three films that we have chosen to ask people questions about are Ted 2, Napoleon Dynamite and Step Brothers.
The information that we found on YouGov regarding Ted 2 showed us a lot of things about our target audience. For example the information on YouGov told us that on average the people who like Ted 2 are young, Male and have a right wing view on politics. This is one bit of information that suggest to us as a group that we should be targeting a young target audience. The information that we found on Step Brothers also showed us a lot of things about they type of people that we are looking to target with our opening sequence. For this film the information was very similar to Ted 2, for example the people who commonly watched this film were young. However the gender was female and the political beliefs were to the left instead of the right for this film. And the third and final film that we studied on YouGov was Napoleon Dynamite. the information that we found for this film was very similar to the information for the last film witch as Step Brothers, Both had on average viewers that were female, had left wing political beliefs and were also young. This is important for us as a group because we will be looking to take inspiration from this film and this more likely than not will be the target audience that we will be looking to target. Our plan for our research into the Target Audience of the comedy genre is to use this information from the YouGov website and we shall ask people if you would agree or disagree with the information that YouGov has provided and then ask why they either agree or disagree. We will interview three or four people who are comfortable to answer our questions in front of a camera and then edit the clips on the editing software Final Cut and then we shall all put them onto our blogs. we have chosen to do it in this way because it is a more creative and more practical way of doing our research into our target audience in comparison to just doing a survey online, and we also chose to do this because we believe that this idea is unique to us and our group. And we also will carry out a survey to to get people's own perspective instead of asking them if just agreed or disagreed with some stats on a website. We will use a sight called Survey Monkey to cary out this research and in this survey we will ask a range of open and closed questions. by doing both a survey and a video we believe that this will cover all areas of the target audience section of requirements for our coursework. |
